Government Denied Accusation of Recleckness
Bahrun Naim is named as the attack mastermind
Jakarta – Coordinator Minister of Politics, Laws, and Security, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, denied accusation on National Security officers and intelligent agency’s recleckness as the cause of the attacks and bombings in Sarinah, Central Jakarta, yesterday. The attack killed 7 people.
“Since December 2015, there would be ‘an orchestra’ on Southeast Asia. And National Police work really hard to arrest them in December,” Luhut said after a closed-meeting in Presidential office yesterday.
Luhut admitted, although the government had already known that there would be an attack, it didn’t have a clue when it would happened. “One thing that we didn’t know is when it would happen. No intelligence anywhere couldn’t guarantee such information. Never accuse us of being reckless,” he said.
Luhut added that security officers had managed to control the situation, so that the December attack was prevented from happening. But this last attack in January did happen.
Head of National Intelligent Agency, Sutiyoso, denied the same accusation. Although the agency had already detected some terrors, he didn’t know the time and the place. “The most important thing is after the event, probably four hours, they are clear,” he added.
National Police’s Head of Public Relations Division, General Inspector Anton Charliyan said, the police had anticipated the ISIS attacks since November 2015, right after the Paris attack. “It is said that there would be a ‘concert’ in Indonesia and it would become international news.” The word ‘concert’ referred to the attack.
Head of Metro Jaya Region Police, General Tito Karnavian, was convinced that the attack executor was ISIS member. He mentioned Bahrun Naim as the attack mastermind, an ISIS leader in Indonesia. “He is willing to be the leader of ISIS in Southeast Asia,” he said.
